The Small Creature Animation was commissioned by the British Heart Foundation and based on a book I illustrated. Bold Creative did all the technical stuff to magically create this wonderful piece of animation. The story follows the Small Creature on a quest for his lost friend, Bird.Although it's a bereavement book for children, it's a very light little tale that appeals to both children and adults. The Small Creature book by The British Heart Foundation is part of a whole pack of activities for children who have suffered any kind of bereavement. It can be obtained from here for free (with a suggested donation of £10).

British Heart Foundation It is a well known fact that some children can be fussy eaters, or that they might not be eating an adequate or balanced diet. It is also a fact that children have become increasingly sedate in an age of technological distractions. So this party pack was commissioned by the British Heart foundation to aid parents and guardians when organising traditional children's parties. I was asked to illustrate the front of fifteen cards that had game instructions on the reverse. So the key to the project was for children to enjoy healthy parties, but the designers wanted to link the games in with the design of its contents. The games all had animal names like 'Dinosaur egg & spoon' and 'Koala bear hug'. So we came up with a wrapping paper look by using simple applied patterns to parts of the illustrations and fold backs on tails and ears to emphasize this.

I was briefed on six food groups that would make up the core range. The client liked the idea Turner Duckworth had proposed of a different illustration style that would unite on the shelf. The images below show some of the packs in situ at Waitrose. I was delighted to be asked by Gareth Howat to illustrate his ideas for the mini sheet. Using coloured card I made a cut-out representation of Stratford On Avon which featured the four theatres central to the company's history. Then we composed our little stage set to give prominence to the theatre actors within each perforated vignette.
